September 12 - Pixels, Precepts, Projects, & People

WHAT TO EXPECT: Photography is more than cameras, settings, and perfectly followed rules. It is a way of seeing, experimenting, remembering, and connecting with others. Join Tennessee Rick Elliott for an engaging and highly visual exploration of several ideas that have shaped his photographic journey:

PIXELS A look at film noir portraiture and the creative possibilities of shadow, light, mood, & mystery.

PRECEPTS Photography is filled with rules, many of which seem to contradict one another. When should we follow them, when should we question them, and when should we simply trust ourselves?

PROJECTS Personal projects can give our photography purpose, encourage creative growth, and help us develop a voice that is genuinely our own.

PEOPLE From carefully crafted portraits to everyday snapshots, photographs of people become part ofour personal and collective history. Sometimes the image that matters most is not the most technically perfect—it is the one that keeps someone with us. This program is not about finding one “right” way to make photographs. It is about learning to see more deeply, taking creative risks, & recognizing the lasting value of the images we create.
